chelsea successfully signed loic remy

Chelsea Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Loic Remy from Queens Park Rangers.

The France international striker has signed a four-year contract.

The 27-year-old played in the Premier League for Newcastle last season while on loan from QPR. He returned to Loftus Road in the summer.

On signing for the Blues, he said: 'I feel very happy and very proud. When I heard Chelsea wanted to sign me I said "let's go" straight away because they are one of the best clubs in the world. I remember the amazing atmosphere at Stamford Bridge when I played there for Marseille and I can't wait to play for the first time in front of my new fans.'

Remy, who is 6ft tall, is renowned for his pace, eye for goal and a versatility which has also allowed him to succeed in wide positions.

He is one of an illustrious list of players to have come through Lyon’s youth academy. He made his first-team debut for his home-town club in 2006 and played for them during two Ligue 1 title-winning seasons, as well as experiencing the Champions League.

However, it was at Nice, following a loan spell at Lens, where the young Remy truly began to build his reputation.

The goals flowed fast, earning a move along the south coast to Marseille, signed by former Chelsea player and current France manager Didier Deschamps in August 2010. He scored his first Champions League goals during his opening season for Marseille and played in two group games against Chelsea. He was their top league scorer with 15 goals in 2010/11 as well as finding the net for the first time for France that season, having made his international debut in June 2009.

With Remy having averaged almost a goal every two games during two and a half years at Marseille, the Premier League came calling in January 2013 and he scored on his QPR debut at West Ham. Of his six goals in 14 games before the end of that campaign, it was a first-time smash from outside the area against Wigan that most caught the eye. However with Rangers relegated from the top flight, he was loaned for 2013/14 to Newcastle.

A goal against Chelsea at St James’ Park in November was one of 14 he scored in the Premier League last season, helping to earn a place in France’s squad for Brazil in the summer, where he made two substitute appearances.

He played in QPR’s first two league games this season but not in their Capital One Cup defeat by Burton Albion, so remains eligible to play for Chelsea in all competitions.

Pastor Chris Oyakhilome’s Wife Files For Divorce On Grounds Of Adultery (DETAILS)

Thessolution of the marriage between Christ Embassy Church founder, Pastor Christian Oyakhilome, and his wife, Rev. Anita Odegwa Oyakhilome, has entered the final phase, TheCable can report. The wife is seeking divorce on the grounds of “unreasonable behaviour” and “adultery”. She outlined several allegations against the pastor which TheCable cannot publish for legal reasons.

The divorce case, with Suit No FD14D01650, was filed on April 9, 2014 at Divorce Section A, Central Family Court, First Avenue House, High Holborn, London, UK, on Anita’s behalf by Attwaters Jameson Hill Solicitors, a full-service law firm with expertise in commercial law and a strong consumer focus in family, wills and estate, personal injury law and medical negligence.

Efforts to reconcile the popular couple, whose church is one of the biggest denominations in Nigeria and has branches all over world, have failed. They have two teenage daughters, Sharon and Charlyn. Oyakhilome is the president of Believers’ Love World Inc, the registered name of the Christian ministry, while his wife is the vice-president.

The pastor, according to an elder of the church, has denied allegations of adultery and believes his wife is being influenced by “bad friends” who are intent on destroying their home. While Anita believes she has been relegated in the scheme of things in the church, her husband has reportedly accused her of trying to usurp power and authority above her seniors in the ministry. Sources told TheCable that the pastor had been making efforts to avoid divorce in the hope that the wife would eventually have a change of mind.

However, TheCable can also report that the decree nissi was served on the charismatic pastor in his hotel room during a recent visit to the UK. Decree nissi, in legal terms, is like a yellow card in a football match which is a precursor to a red card (“decree absolute”) if no new evidence is provided to stall proceedings.

Church insiders said Oyakhilome had been hoping for rapprochement, but he was left with no option than to receive the papers when the lawyers cornered him at his hotel in London. The decree absolute, which will effectively end the marriage, is expected to be issued soon while terms of the divorce will be worked out by the lawyers on both sides.

TheCable learnt Anita recently wanted to go public with the details of her allegations against the husband but reached an informal agreement to sheathe her sword in the interest of the church.

Oyakhilome is regarded as one of the richest and most influential pastors in Nigeria, and co-authors the fast-selling Christian daily devotional, Rhapsody of Realities, with the wife. However, following the strain in the marriage, the wife had been complaining to friends that her husband had stopped the payment of royalties due her from the devotional.

“She complained of being deliberately starved of funds, perhaps to bring her to her knees in the belief that she would eventually return to her matrimonial home and mend things,” a church member told TheCable in the UK. A wealthy Zimbabwean businessman, who is into telecoms, is one of the biggest financiers of the London branch of the church which Anita pastors along with other branches in Europe.

When the crisis got to a head, the Zimbabwean stopped funding the church ? some said in solidarity with Oyakhilome, his close friend and neighbour in Johannesburg, South Africa. However, Oyakhilome was said to have been shocked when the wife announced at a fundraiser that she was sowing a “seed” (donation) of $1 million ? despite her assumed lack of access to funds. Matters got to a head on Sunday, July 13, 2014, when some relatives of Anita locked up the London branch of the church to protest against the “humiliation” being meted out to their sister ? who had not overseen services at the branch since November 2013.

Some church members had sometime in May 10, 2014 launched facebook campaign, asking: “Where is Rev. Anita Oyakhilome?”They said Pastor Chris and Rev. Anita must unite “for the sake of the gospel, the church and their two beautiful daughters”.

They quoted Malachi 2:16 in the Message Bible: “I hate divorce, says the God of Israel.” The facebook page, which has over 3,300 “likes”, was opened with a stated mission: “This is a Call to Prayer for all believers who understand God’s heart concerning marriage and a Call to Action by Pst. Chris. #DoWhatYouPreach”.

Officials of the church quickly moved to deny any rift between the pastor couple. One official, Kenneth Achumasara, told the media last June: “I can tell you authoritatively that there is no issue between Pastor Chris and his wife, Anita…

If you go to the UK now you will see her along with the kids. She is still with him and there is no issue between them. I have been with him for 22 years and the Pastor Chris I know cannot even utter such words as reported. He will never address such a gathering. She will soon be in Nigeria for a programme and I will definitely invite you to have access to her.”

The 5 Big Benefits Of Coconut Oil (CLICK)

 by Ellen Penner

I admit I was late to join the coconut oil craze but it’s quickly become a staple in my pantry, and not just because it’s delicious.

But coconut oil is very high in saturated fat (about 90 percent) — a type of fat that has, for quite some time, been associated with elevated blood cholesterol levels and increased heart disease risk. The Dietary Guidelines tells us to limit this nutrient, yet a growing body of research has caused a rethink of whether saturated fat is actually bad for us at all.

So what is the deal with coconut oil then?

Well, while it’s high in saturated fat, we know that not all saturated fats are created equal — and this is where some of the believed health benefits of coconut oil come into play.

To simplify things, here’s an overview of some of the coconut oil’s most noteworthy benefits:

Easy-to-Use Energy Source

Lauric acid, the predominant saturated fat in coconut oil, is a medium-chain fatty acid. The body uses these types of fatty acids differently than the long-chain fatty acids that make up a large percentage of other dietary fats. Medium-chain fatty acids are processed by the liver and are quickly converted into energy by our cells, which is why studies like this one from 2003, and another from 2008, suggest that these particular fatty acids may be beneficial for weight loss — in moderation of course.

Good Cholesterol Booster

As far as blood cholesterol levels are concerned, consumption of solid fats like coconut oil that are rich in lauric acid have been linked to increases in both “good” (HDL) and “bad” (LDL) cholesterol levels. Though your “bad” cholesterol may go up, so should your good cholesterol. The evidence suggests coconut oil may have a neutral, or even slightly beneficial effect on cholesterol levels when used in place of other saturated, ortrans-fats.

Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Advantages

Coconut oil has long been revered for its bug-fighting properties. Though more research needs to be done in this area, coconut oil contains compounds thought to prevent or fight certain viral, bacterial and fungal infections like the flu, bronchitis, yeast infections, acne and more. Additionally, coconut oil, particularly unrefined or virgin coconut oil, contains phenolic compounds which have protective, antioxidant properties.

Convenient for Cooking

As far as cooking benefits are concerned, coconut oil is a more solid oil that is both mild in flavor and fairly heat stable. It works well for a variety of dishes, particularly baked goods and medium-heat sautes. The mild taste makes it a popular choice for curries or other dishes that benefit from a hint of tropical flavor.

Simple Skincare Solution

Coconut oil has benefits beyond food and nutrition. It doubles as a great make-up remover and moisturizer, especially during cold winter months when skin is more susceptible to dryness and cracking.

So, is coconut oil all it’s cracked up to be?

Due to its high lauric acid content, virgin coconut oil is a great substitute for other types of saturated fats, such as lard and butter, and trans fats, such as vegetable shortening. But, despite having several great qualities, coconut oil is still a fat, and all fats are calorie-dense so it’s best to use in moderation.

Which brings me to my next point. It’s great for cooking, but should it be the only oil you use?

For beauty purposes it can be, but it’s probably best not to rely on just one cooking oil. Using it in addition to other types of cooking oils will not only produce better results depending on the type of dish you’re preparing, but will also provide a variety of other important fats, like those heart-healthy Omega-3s.

Bottom Line: If it’s not in your kitchen cabinet already, consider adding coconut oil to your collection.

Shopping Tip: Choosing unrefined, or “virgin” coconut oil will provide the most benefits since processing practices can negate its favorable properties.

Do you use coconut oil at home? What are some of your favorite ways to use it?

CREEPY: Meet The Man Who Keeps ALL His Nail Clippings In A Jar… Since 1978 (PICTURED)

Richard Gibson keeps his most cherished item on a shelf in his Lafayette, Louisiana, home.

It’s not a picture of his loved ones, nor a prized trophy, it’s a jar containing every single toenail and fingernail he’s clipped off himself since February, 1978.

“I remember it well. I still have the manicure kit,” he told The Huffington Post.

Gibson, a 58-year-old oil investor, was clipping his toenails when he decided to put the clippings into the manicure box instead of the trash can.

“I started doing it again and again and then decided to see how long it would take to fill the box,” he said proudly.

It took only two years to fill the box, but by then he was hooked, and moved his collection to the glass jar he currently uses.

“I have no idea how many nails are in the jar,” Gibson said. “It’s well into the thousands.”

Gibson’s commitment to his keratin collection hasn’t been easy at times. He says his ex-wife used to insist he hide the jar when visitors came to the house.

However, it’s finally paid off: A picture of Gibson proudly holding the jar appears in the newest Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! book, “Reality Shock!” debuting Tuesday, September 9, 2014.

“I haven’t told her,” he said. “I’m waiting until I can show her the book. She’s always been annoyed by them.”

Gibson figures the jar is 99 percent full, but hasn’t thought about what to do when the last toenail reaches the tippy-top.

“I don’t know what I’ll do,” he said. “I’ll probably put them into something else. I’ve got enough room for several more months worth of nails.”

Surprisingly, he has no set schedule for adding to the jar.

“I only cut them when I break a fingernail or toenail,” he said. “I don’t cut them that often — they’re long.”

Nails are the only clippings Gibson collects. He is a longtime fan of Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! who has submitted 70,000 weird facts for inclusion in the popular column.

“I’ve had 750 of them printed, but this is the first time I’ve made it into one of the books,” he said. “It’s not like winning an Oscar, but I am proud.”

Di Maria Joins Man United For Record Fee

Manchester United have signed Argentina midfielder Angel di Maria from Real Madrid for a British record transfer fee of £59.7 million, the English Premier League club announced on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old’s move, on a five-year contract, shatters the previous British record fee of £50m paid by Chelsea to sign Spain striker Fernando Torres from Liverpool in 2011.

“Manchester United is delighted to announce that Angel Di Maria has completed his transfer for a British record fee of £59.7 million. Angel joins on a five-year contract,” said a club statement.

United manager Louis van Gaal added: “Angel is a world-class midfielder but most importantly he is a team player. There is no doubting his immense natural talent.

“He is a tremendously fast and incisive left-footed player who puts fear into the most accomplished defence,” the Dutchman explained.

“His dribbling skills and his ability to take on and beat opponents are a joy to watch. He is an excellent addition to the team.”

Meanwhile di Maria said it was van Gaal’s “vision” for the English giants that had persuaded him to move to Old Trafford, even though United, are not in this season’s Champions League following their unexpectedly lowly seventh place in last term’s Premier League.

Angel Di Maria

“I am absolutely delighted to be joining Manchester United,” di Maria said. “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Spain and there were a lot of clubs interested in me, but United is the only club that I would have left Real Madrid for.
“Louis van Gaal is a fantastic coach with a proven track record of success and I am impressed by the vision and determination everyone has to get this club back to the top – where it belongs. I now just cannot wait to get started.”

Di Maria came through one of the most celebrated youth academies in Argentinian football in Rosario Central.

In 2007, he joined Portuguese club Benfica, before signing for Real Madrid in 2010.

The Argentina international has scored 10 goals in 52 appearances for his country.

His arrival in Manchester is the headline deal of United’s overhaul under new manager van Gaal, who had already spent a combined £72 million on England left-back Luke Shaw, Spanish midfielder Ander Herrera and Di Maria’s Argentina teammate Marcos Rojo, who is also left-footed like him.

Di Maria could make his debut at Burnley on Saturday as van Gaal looks to revitalise a United team still without a win after the first two games of the new Premier League campaign.

Di Maria has an impressive pedigree after winning the Champions League with Real last season and the Spanish title in 2012.

He was also named on Fifa’s 10-man shortlist for the best player at the recent World Cup where Argentina reached the final, although he was unable to play in that game or the semifinal because of an injury he suffered in the quarterfinal win over Belgium.

Di Maria Exits Real Madrid

After weeks of speculations, Argentine striker Angel Di Maria is bound to join Manchester United in the English Premier League, EPL.

According to latest reports, the player has finally confirmed rumours that he is headed to United  as Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that the attacker has said goodbye to the Spanish giants.

Louis van Gaal has identified Di Maria as the man to add some pace to United’s attack and it now looks as if the Dutchman has landed the World Cup star.

Angel Di Maria

Di Maria’s proposed move to Old Trafford will see him become the Premier League’s record signing as United will pay over £60million for the 26-year-old.

Speaking at a press conference on Saturday, 23 August, 2014, Ancelotti said the Benfica winger has said goodbye to Real Madrid fans.

“We thanked him for everything he has done for the club.

“We tried everything possible to keep Di Maria, but he has decided something else. Good luck to him,” Ancelotti said.

Di Maria, who has been reported to wear United’s iconic No 7 shirt, is expected to earn in the region of £200,000-a-week at Old Trafford.
Meanwhile, the Real Madrid boss also revealed Sami Khedira would be staying at the club despite speculation linking him with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu to Arsenal.

“Khedira is happy here and he is staying. The matter is resolved and he stays at Real Madrid.”

Commenting on Di Maria imminent exit from Madrid, former Real president Ramon Calderon said: “Personally I don’t like it. “Normally a club who owns the very good players don’t like to sell them.”

Van Gaal is a known admirer of Di Maria, who would become the club’s fourth summer signing.

The Old Trafford club have already bought left-back Luke Shaw, midfielder Ander Herrera and Di Maria’s Argentina team-mate Marcos Rojo for a combined £72m.

Ángel Fabián Di María Hernández (born 14 February 1988) is an Argentine professional footballer who currently plays for Real Madrid and the Argentine national team, as a winger or attacking midfielder.

Di Maria was named on the 10-man shortlist for the FIFA player of the tournament at this summer’s World Cup, though he injured a thigh in the quarter-final win over Belgium.

After beginning his career with Rosario Central, Di María moved to Europe in 2007 to play for Benfica of Portugal, earning a €25 million move to Real Madrid three years later.

A full international for Argentina since 2008, Di María has earned over 50 caps for his country. He scored the goal which won the country gold at the 2008 Olympics, and has also represented them at two World Cups and the 2011 Copa América.

19 Reasons To Start Running

You can probably come up with countless reasons for why you just can't run. You don't have enough time or enough energy or the right neighborhood or the right sports bra. You don't have the body or sturdy enough joints or the desire to compete in a race. You're just not crazy enough to be a runner.

To all of those reasons and more, we say: How do you know until you've tried?

The beauty of running is that just about everyone can play -- and succeed -- in a sport that has the power to change lives.

Here are just a few convincing reasons to start running. Let us know if you agree.

1. Because you can do it anywhere. We think it's safe to say that the more accessible your fitness routine is, the more you'll stick with it. Traveling for work? You can still go for a run! On vacation? You can still go for a run! Snow, sleet, rain, hail? Yep, you can still go for a run.

2. To make new friends. You don't have to toe the starting line to meet some friendly competition. Try a group run organized by a local running club or running store, or look for a Meetup group of like-minded runners near you.

3. To spend some time alone. Then again, if the running buddy thing isn't your scene, you might as well lace up for some "me time" and escape everything for a while.

4. To accomplish a goal. We don't have to tell you that it feels darn good to set a goal and then crush it. If you've always wanted to run -- whether your goal is to finish a marathon or just a loop around the block -- now's the time to lace up and check it off the list.

5. Because you might live longer. While more isn't always better, there's solid evidence that a moderate running routine will add years to your life, even if you're only logging a few minutes each day.

6. To burn calories. While we don't recommend exercising for the sole purpose of losing weight -- there are just so many other benefits! -- there's no denying that running is a big calorie burner. Your individual burn will vary depending on your sex, weight, level of activity and how far and fast you run, but you can expect to burn about 50 percent more calories per mile than you would walking the same distance.

7. For the smiles. A whole host of feel-good chemicals are released in the brain when we exercise that essentially act like drugs. It's called the Runner's High for a reason!

8. To remember. Learning a new language isn't the only way to keep an aging brain sharp. Research suggests that staying physically active is even more important in preventing cognitive decline.

9. Because you'll sleep better. Regular exercisers reported significantly better shut-eye than couch potatoes in a 2013 survey from the National Sleep Foundation. But the survey's most promising finding was that a little bit goes a long way: Adding just 10 minutes of physical activity helped non-exercisers report better sleep.

10. To feel more energized. You might think that a run would drain you after a long day, but physical activity actually serves to reenergize, perhaps even better than a quick nap.

11. For your heart. The American Heart Association recommends 40 minutes of moderate to vigorous aerobic activity -- a.k.a. running -- three or four times a week to help lower blood pressure and cholesterol naturally.

12. To relax. Those same feel-good chemicals released in the brain that lift your spirits can also help alleviate stress, even though exercise is technically a stressor on the body.

13. Because you might reduce your cancer risk. According to the National Cancer Institute, there is strong evidence that physically active people have lower risks of colon and breast cancer. Emerging research suggests exercise confers some protection against endometrial, lung and prostate cancers, too.

14. Because you'll get to spend more time outside. And a little extra time in nature in turn can keep you calm, happy and energized.

15. To see more of new places. There's nothing wrong with a casual stroll through your new neighborhood or the city you're vacationing in, but you could see a whole lot more at a faster pace!

16. Because you'll (probably) get to buy new shoes. If you haven't run in a while (or ever before), you'll probably need some new sneaks. They're about the only essential gear for running -- aside from the right sports bra for the ladies -- and who doesn't love shoe shopping?

17. To protect your bones. Weight-bearing exercise like running is key to building strong and healthy bones and slowing bone loss. (And no, running won't cause arthritis.)

18. To stay sniffle-free. You just might breeze through cold and flu season thanks to your new running routine. Moderate amounts of exercise seem to bolster the immune system's ability to ward off viruses.

19. To make a difference. When you're ready, try a race for charity. When the training miles get tough, remember the cause you signed up to run for -- and the people your running can benefit.

5 Times When Saying ‘No’ Is The Nicest Thing You Can Do For Yourself

The vast majority of us live in a 24/7 world. Our days do not begin and end within office hours. And after accounting for the optimal amount of sleep we all should be logging each night, that leaves about 72 hours each week to attend to our families, friends, chores, hobbies and passions. We live by our calendars and agendas, tirelessly scheduling everything we can possibly fit into this amount of time. But sometimes, the payoff is far greater when we deviate from the plan and simply say “no.”

This quick, two-letter word can often be one of the hardest for us to say. In fact, research shows that we frequently agree to more than we truly want to because feeling overbooked and overwhelmed seems more comfortable in the moment than disappointing others. And it only gets harder when we have to say “no” face to face.

“One of our most fundamental needs is for social connection and a feeling that we belong,” Dr. Vanessa Bohns, assistant professor of management sciences at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, told The Wall Street Journal. “Saying “no” feels threatening to our relationships and that feeling of connectedness.”

Unfortunately, this desire to remain connected to everyone else often disconnects us from our true selves. We sacrifice our own needs and wants for the sake of social grace, a sacrifice that may not be worth it every time.

Throughout this “year of mindfulness,” we have pondered what it means to live mindfully. One of the key elements focuses on our ability to feel what we feel – both good and bad. When we are mindful, we are honest and accepting of how we feel in the present moment as opposed to working to resist, control or change it.

Truly being in tune with yourself involves knowing when you need to deviate from the norm for your own physical, mental and emotional well-being. Saying “no” to others ultimately begins with telling yourself that “no” is a viable option.

Here are five times you should quiet that inner desire to please others and, instead, listen for what will make you happy.

1. Need a little headspace? Skip happy hour.

Crowds, loud conversations and alcohol rarely help a person who is already feeling overstimulated – introverts in particular. Check in with yourself at the end of the day and ask yourself what you really need once you clock out. If that answer involves a little peace, quiet and solitude, don’t hesitate to head straight home. True friends will not only accept this aspect of your personality, but also understand that everyone needs a little “me” time every now and then.

2. Feeling physically exhausted? Give yourself the night off.

Even the most dedicated athletes have days that leave them feeling incredibly drained and worn out – so much so that an evening workout isn’t always in their best interest. Listen to your body and give it time to recuperate when it needs it rather than pushing through your scheduled class or training run just because you always go. Shift your priorities from following a routine to following your feelings. Indulging in a quiet evening at home and early bedtime will likely make the following day and workout that much better.

3. Can’t hear yourself think? Create your “cave.”

When rambling thoughts are getting the best of you, one of the best solutions is retreating to a quiet, relaxing space that will help you find a complete sense of calm.Design your “cave” within your home with simple, soothing and tech-free elements. Whether you need an entire room or just your favorite chair with a good book, having a set place at at the end of the day to escape all outside stressors can be the best medicine for a restless mind.

4. Had a rough week? Take a personal Friday night.

If you feel more excited by the idea of heading home, shutting out the world and just spending a relaxing night at home, go for it! Instead of feeling obligated to a late night of bar-hopping because everyone else wants to go, enjoy prepping a home-cooked meal and watching the latest episode of your favorite show you didn’t catch live earlier in the week. Invitations to others are optional — it’s your free time, so decide how you want to spend it.

5. Just not in the mood? Simply say “no.”

At the end of the day, you don’t actually need a circumstantial reason to take a personal night. The only agenda you are truly obligated to is the one within yourself. Gracefully decline offers, shift a few weekday plans to the weekend, and revel in the joys of spending time in your space, your comfort zone, the place that makes you feel most mindful.

A Nigerian Might Be Britian's First Black Prime Minister, Meet Chuka

By next year, May 7th 2015, One Chuka Umaunna may turn history around and become the first black British prime minister of the United Kingdom.

Cameron and Chuks

Born in 1978 to a Nigerian Father and an Irish Mother, Chuka grew up in the UK .

Chuka is of mixed race, his father Bennet, who hails from Anambra state died  in a mysterious car accident in Nigeria in 1992.

His father was a labourer who went to Britain in the sixties with just a suitcase and no money, he worked in a carwash and then worked till he became a successful businessman and died in a car crash when his son was 13.

The father met Patricia Milmo, a solicitor, at a London party, she was the daughter of Sir Helenus Milmo, a Cambridge-educated High Court judge and a prosecutor at the Nuremberg Nazi trials.

Chuka till this day believes his father was killed due to him, not accepting to indulge in corrupt practices when he was running for the governorship of Anambra State during the administration of former military dictator, General Ibrahim Babangida (retd.).

When asked about his father, he said: “There was a lot of speculation in Nigeria at the time around his death. He was a national political figure standing on an anti-corruption ticket and refused to bribe anybody.

“We don’t really talk about it because it is not going to bring him back but I think he would be bowled over that his son is now a politician just like him.”

Chuka now is an an English and French Law graduate from the University of Manchester, and has a masters degree from Nottingham Law School and his political career was formed by the divide in his own Streatham constituency in the UK.

The 35-year-old Labour Party Member of Parliament, has to join and be a member of parliament and make sure his party win 560 seats in the House of Commons during the parliamentary elections being the leader to  be his party leader.

Chuka is said to be supported by former Prime minister Tony Blair, is also the Shadow Business Secretary, a position held by a member of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition

When asked if Blair had blessed him, Chuka said, “I really don’t know anything about that.” However, when he was pressed further whether he aspired to head his party, he said, “I don’t entertain any discussion beyond winning the election next year. That would be completely hypocritical of me. To start thinking about hypothetical scenarios would be totally indulgent. All my energy is focused on winning the election, and so should everyone’s. It will be very close.”

Chuka confesses that until his late teens he had not even thought about a career in politics because there was “nobody who looked like me” running the country.

Chuka has been vocal in the call for a reduction in government spending as well as issues on immigration. “They [the French] have something like 40 ministers compared to our 80,” he says.

Nigeria May Commence Call Monitoring Soon - NCC

Due to the delicate security situation in the country, security agencies will soon begin to monitor calls made within the country to assist investigative operations, the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced.
The announcement was made recently at a special edition of Consumer Outreach Program organised by NCC in Maitama, Abuja at the IBB Golf Club.

The commission also went ahead to state that plans were in the offing to ensure subscribers rights and privacy were not encroached upon in the course of the proposed call monitoring.

Vanguard reports:

Though, the Commission promised to ensure full protection of the rights of every consumer through the proposed guidelines, it however noted that there is no enabling law at the moment to guide the operators on such powers and called for a quick enactment of legislations to give the proposed guideline a legal backing by the time the implementation proper kicks off.

According to the commission’s legal adviser, Mrs. Yetunde Akinloye, “In view of the worrisome security situation in the country, the security agencies are about to key into peoples’ conversation. We as a regulatory agency are coming with guidelines that will guide the operators on this.

Though, at the moment, we do not have a law to guide how the operators should keep consumers privacy in conversation, we also need this guideline. to enhance the smooth implementation of the plan.”

Recall that last year Senator Isa Galaudu, PDP Kebbi North sponsored a bill entitled A Bill for an Act to Provide for Interception, Development and Protection of Communications Networks and Facilities for Public Interest and Other Related Matters 2013.

The bill seeks to give legal backing to relevant national chief security officers, national security agency, Department of State Services and Police to intercept communications considered prejudicial to national security or public interest.

The bill passed second reading in the upper legislative chamber of the National Assembly and was referred to the Senate committees on Communication, Judiciary and National Security for further legislative input.

However, though the bill generated serious condemnations from different quarters going by wide spread fears of privacy breach it could bring about, it received overwhelming support in the Senate, in September last year.

But the NCC is promising that the soon to be released guidelines will take care of fears of privacy breach and ensure that the process does not affect genuine conversations.

In his opening remarks, the Executive Commissioner, Technical Services, Engr. Ubale Maska said since the establishment of the Consumer Affairs Bureau, in 2001, the Commission had taken several initiatives to address numerous challenges consumers are facing by coming up with projects that will ensure and guarantee that consumer are well informed, educated and protected at all times.

Also corroborating him, Director Consumer Affairs Bureau of the Commission, Mrs. Maryam Bayi said, the Commission had made remarkable strides in its bid to protect the interest of telecom consumers, not just as a fulfillment of its mandate but also as commitment to ensure that Nigerian telecoms consumers get value for their money.
she explained that the Commission had come up with a number of regulations and initiatives for the purpose of protecting the telecom consumer interest. They include: the establishment of regulations on consumer code of practice, quality of service, enforcement, mobile number portability among others.

Also speaking, the Assistant Director of Public Affairs, Mr. Reuben Muoka described the regulation of the Nigerian telecom sector as a delicate balance for the commission.

Muoka noted that the consumer outreach programme of the commission has not only made Nigerian consumers the most celebrated among other consumers in Nigerian economy but has also been recognized by the International telecommunication Union, ITU as an innovative initiative helping the commission to alleviate consumers problems.

The Inspirational Story Of WhatsApp Founder, Jan Koum

Jan Koum, a Ukranian, went to the US at the age of 16 due to the hostile treatment Jews were receiving in the country. When they arrived in the US, Jan and his mother lived on food stamps. He met Brian Acton in 1997 at Yahoo, where they were both working and they became friends. By 2007, the two of them men had become disillusioned and they left Yahoo to seek new challenges.

Koum founded WhatsApp in 2009 after he had been turned down by Facebook and was joined by Acton who had also been turned down by Twitter and Facebook. They created a project that allowed them to concentrate on creating an easy-to-use messaging product and the approach paid off. WhatsApp amassed 450 million monthly users. Their idea was that smartphone users should be able to easily message each other without incurring fees from phone carriers. They refused to advertise their product and only relied on the recommendations of users of the product. In 2014, Facebook decided to purchase WhatsApp for a whooping 19 billion dollars!

Lessons from Jan Koum’s (and Brian Acton’s) story:

Your background is not an excuse for failure in life: Jan Koum did menial jobs like cleaning and mopping at a grocery store while his mother took up a babysitting job. At a point in his life, he and his mother depended on allowances from the government. (Jan signed the agreement with Facebook on the door of the social services office where he and his mother used to stand in line to collect food stamps.)

Adversity should make you stronger and resilient not break you: Jan learnt computer networking all by himself with the help of manuals from a used book store. He couldn’t afford to pay for lessons but he has become a billionaire today.

You can profit from your experience: Jan’s experience in communist Ukraine where phone lines were bugged by secret police greatly influenced his decision to create WhatsApp. He wanted a service that guaranteed messaging privacy. “I grew up in a country where I remember my parents not being able to have a conversation on the phone,” he explained. “The walls had ears and you couldn’t speak freely.”

If you find your job unexciting, get out: Jan and Brian became disillusioned with life at Yahoo and they quit.

Don’t allow disappointment to overwhelm you: Jan and Brian were turned down turned down for employment by Facebook. Brian was also rejected by Twitter and he took it on the chin. Read this: “Got denied by Twitter HQ. That’s ok. Would have been a long commute.” and this “Facebook turned me down. It was a great opportunity to connect with some fantastic people. Looking forward to life’s next adventure.”

Be passion-driven not money-driven: Jan wanted to create a product that would meet a need, and when this product filled the need, money came. Today he is a billionaire. Money was not his primary motivation. He says he just wanted to build a great product. “I started WhatsApp, to build a product. I do not want to create a company around it, the goal was not to earn. We wanted to spend our time building a service people wanted to use because it worked and saved them money and made their lives better in a small way.” He tweeted in 2012 that he was not an entrepreneur: “Next person to call me an entrepreneur is getting punched in the face by my bodyguard, seriously.”

A good product will advertise itself: WhatsApp has a ‘no ads’ policy. The company refuses to be involved in promotions, marketing and advertising and it has over 450 million active users, reaching the number faster than any other company in history. This is what WhatsApp says about advertising, “No one wakes up excited to see more advertising, no one goes to sleep thinking about the ads they’ll see tomorrow. We know people go to sleep excited about who they chatted with that day (and disappointed about who they didn’t). We want WhatsApp to be the product that keeps you awake… and that you reach for in the morning. No one jumps up from a nap and runs to see an advertisement.”

Jan’s is an inspirational story that yet again proves that as long as you refuse to give up but continue to look for a way out, you will eventually have your big break.

5 Amazing Benefits Of Laughter

A good laugh can help you feel energized and refreshed. Laughing boosts your oxygen intake and releases endorphins, the feel-good hormones that make you happy.

As Charlie Chaplin rightly said – ‘Laughter is the tonic, the relief, the surcease for pain’. Here go few more benefits of laughter:

1. Laughter makes you feel better

If you are feeling super stressed and somebody cracks a hilarious joke that makes you laugh hard, it will make you feel better, especially if it is totally out of the blue.

2. Laughter increases immunity

Negativity and stressful situations causes chemical reactions in your body that decreases your immunity, making it more likely you to fall sick. A hearty laugh fuels your immune system with disease-fighting powers that will help you stay healthy and energetic.

3. Laughter improves blood flow

Laughter reduces blood pressure and improves blood flow, which will in turn reduce your chances of suffering a stroke or heart attack.

4. Laughter boosts confidence and mood

People who are confident have an ability to laugh at themselves no matter how badly they mess up. They take any mistake in their stride and move on with a hearty laugh by minimizing stress, wasting time or causing any damage to oneself.

5. Laughter burns calories

Laughter could help you in your fitness plan. It raises your heart rate and can burn about 10-40 calories in 15 minutes according to a study.

Take It Slow: Top 10 Risks Of Fast Weight Loss

The wish for fast weight loss is everybody’s dirty little secret. After all the excesses of December’s merry-making, your New Year resolution is to shed those extra pounds, and all of a sudden you notice a huge poster saying,’ lose weight in 30 day.’

It is tempting to fall prey to this promise of fast weight loss but what are you risking? Quick solutions can cause severe detrimental effects on your health. Even if you leave physical harm aside, fast weight loss may cause mental stress and depression as well. Therefore, before believing any fast weight loss advice, take a moment and have a look at the top 10 risks that fast weight loss brings with it.
1. Fast weight loss is not a permanent solution
According to Priya, Nutritionist from Mumbai: “Before adopting fast weight loss methods, you have to be very cautious. Though it might help you lose some weight, the results are not sustainable for a long time. Since your body is not trained to the temporary changes, it will fail to adapt to the changes and more likely you will get back all the weight that you had lost.”

2. Fast weight loss means dehydration
The most famous technique to lose some quick pounds is the dehydration technique. Since most of the body weight is water; people dehydrate themselves to lose weight. This technique is totally unreal and harmful.

Depriving yourself of water is not healthy at all. It can lead to various serious health problems like fainting, dizziness, and heart palpitations. Sometimes, it can further lead to muscle damage and also death. Plus, you will get back to your old weight very quickly as your body is known to restore fluids naturally.

3. Poor sleep
Quick weight loss can make you tired very quickly and very often. When you get into a weight loss schedule, many individuals engage in lessening the amount of calories intake instead of burning fat. Due to low calorie intake, the metabolic rate goes down, which further means less energy and a more tired you.

4. Formation of gallstones
Gallbladder is present in your abdomen. It is a small sac present below the liver. This gallbladder helps in storage of fat until it is needed. Priya says – rapid weight loss can produce gallstones. Gallstones are hardening of cholesterols which looks like stones. These tiny stones can cause severe damage as it can cause infection due to obstruction in the normal flow of bile from the gallbladder to the small intestine.

5. Nutritional deficiency
When you adopt a quick weight loss plan, you restrict yourself only to certain food. Due to this restriction, you are cutting yourself from various nutrients that are necessary for the upkeep of your body and you.

6. You are increasing your stress level
Staying away from certain food or starving yourself to lose weight fast, can lower the metabolism rate in your body, which will further increase the stress hormone – cortisol. Due to the high presence of this hormone, you will feel mentally, physically and emotionally stressed and lost.

7. Hair loss
When you start the fast weight loss journey, you are depriving yourself from essential nutrients. Your hair needs protein to grown and to be healthy. But due to your diet plan, you are avoiding adequate protein intake. This makes your hair dry, brittle and this eventually causes hair fall.

8. Fat storage
When you are in starvation mode to lose weight fast, your body signals itself about it and stores food. Due to this problem, when you get back to your normal diet, you not only gain what you had lost but also gain some extra unwanted weight and fat.

9. Metabolism disruption
When you are on the fast weight loss diet mode, your body gets its signal and in order to survive, it slows down the metabolic rate. But when you come back to your normal eating routine, you experience weight gain due to a slower metabolic rate.

To beat this, you may again go into a crash diet, and with this your body starts a cycle of losing and gaining weight. These frequent changes can cause sev

6 Signs You Could Be A Highly Sensitive Person

Psychologist Elaine Aron‘s research on a temperament category she describes as the “highly sensitive person” (HSP) has been gaining increased attention in recent years, and giving many people a big “aha” moment. Could you be among the 15-20 percent of the population she believes make up this group? I’ve learned that I am, and finding this out has changed the way I look at…everything.

When I was a kid, the taste of many foods was unbearably intense, and certain sounds were, too. I had a vivid imagination and experienced acute awareness of emotions — both my own and those of others. Yet I was not shy. Somtimes I would get so overstimulated I would find myself talking constantly, a tendency that earned me the nickname “Loquacious Lynn” from my mother and demerit points in school. I was transfixed by odd things: once, at summer camp, I stood paralyzed by the side of a stream, knowing that when I reached the other side I would be older and could never reverse the flow of time. I felt and saw things that enchanted and sometimes frightened me.

I grew up thinking I was most definitely weird, if not a tad crazy, and tried to send these peculiarities underground so I’d appear “normal.” The effort was exhausting.

According to Aron, a lot of kids grow up feeling flawed (and perhaps medicated on that assumption) when they are not really flawed at all — they are just expressing a trait well within the normal human range: high sensitivity. In some cultures, such as Japan, the trait is highly valued, though sadly, this is often not the case in Western society, and such children can experience negative or confused reactions from peers and adults. In the 2011 documentary “Bully,” a child who commits suicide in repsonse to bullying shows his first signs of being “different” as high sensitivity to loud noises, a fact no one comments upon as linked to his distressing experiences at school.

An HSP’s temperament appears to be largely inherited (revealed through twin studies and other research), though environment plays a key role in how it develops. If the child is either overprotected or chastised for expressing what is for him or her perfectly normal, problems develop. Researchers who study the brain find that HSPs are aroused by stimuli that may not be detected by others and their difference has to do with how the brain processes information. They can’t change what they are, though they can learn how to cope and monitor themselves.

High sensitivity can be seen in other higher animals, too. From an evolutionary standpoint, the trait is valuable in a group. While you don’t want everyone, or even most members to have it, heightened sensitivity in some individuals is beneficial: They can warn of potential danger, make acute observations of the behavior of other animals, and share the wisdom of their tendency toward greater reflection. In history, HSPs would be the priest-advisors in the community. Today they are often the artists, teachers, researchers, and judges.

In the modern world, the trait has both positive and negative aspects. On the good side, you may be better able to spot errors and process information to deeper levels in your brain. On the bad side, you can react to false alarms and become rattled by loud noises and other stimuli. Caffeine and medicines may cause you to react more than most. Aron has also observed in her work that HSPs who had difficult childhoods are particularly prone to anxiety as adults.

According to Aron, this trait is not a new discovery, but it is something that has often been misunderstood and culturally devalued, making life challenging for people who live with it. Here are some things that tend to be associated with HSPs. (You can also take a self-test online.)

 1. You were described as sensitive or shy as a child. You were the kid who knew what somebody was about to say before they said it. You reacted strongly to changes in your environment. Maybe you were the one who paused to watch before jumping into the game. Aron emphasizes that while most HSPs have been labeled shy, a full 30 percent have not and would be described as extroverted. She notes that some observers, like Susan Cain in her best-selling book Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking, may really be talking about sensitivity when they discuss introversion. Being highly reactive to stimuli does not necessarily mean you don’t seek out crowds or new acquaintances, although it often does. The key underlying trait is sensitivity, not inhibition. Some HSPs are actually sensation-seekers — stimuli can bring them intense pleasure as well as discomfort.

2. You pick up subtleties in your environment. The HSP’s brain processes information and reflects on it more deeply. One thing HSPs share is the tendency to notice things others might not pick up on so readily, like the mood of a teacher or the rearrangment of furniture in a room. An artificial sweetener might taste like a chemical experiment, and someone’s slightly off-key singing might sound like a fingernail on a chalkboard. HSPs might also have noticed a tendency to detect when someone is telling a lie, or intuit another person’s feelings.

3. You can easily become overwhelmed. Too much intensity, chaos and noise can wreak havoc on an HSP, which is why they often work better in quiet environments. When they are able to concentrate, HSPs are excellent at work that requires deep thinking and fast turnover. But turn up the volume around them and ask them to do too many things at once and they become overloaded. If you’re the kind of person who feels the need to retreat by yourself after a trip or an outing with friends or a busy day, you might be an HSP. Part of managing life for an HSP (or somebody who is close to one) is understanding and respecting the need for extra time to regroup and making allowances for your particular work style.

4. You fall hard and fast: Aron has devoted an entire book, The Highly Sensitive Person in Love, to the topic of HSPs and their style of loving. When they fall in love, they often feel tremendous ecstasy, and often very quickly, but they also feel anxiety, overstimulation and difficulty processing their intense emotions. Overstimulation and intensity can make intimacy difficult for HSPs, who are also the type of people who naturally seek it out. For HSPs, the risk of heartbreak and unhappy relationships is unfortunately higher than average, but understanding the trait and finding a partner who can be patient with it iucan increase the odds of success.

5. You are conscientious: HSPs tend to be conscientious people who try hard to perform their duties well and execute their work at their very best level. They often have particularly good manners, and notice when others don’t. Rudeness and work that is full of errors drive them nuts. HSPs are often especially concerned with issues of social justice, and will fight hard to right wrongs in the world.

6. You have a vivid imagination: HSPs are often very creative people. They have vivid dreams and can wander off into imaginary realms in their minds. They are also very empathetic and can imagine the thoughts and feelings of others. An interest in art, philosophy and spirituality is common. Carl Jung was one of the early psychologists most interested in HSPs (he used a different term), probably because he himself was one. He thought that people with “innate sensitivity,” as he put it, were more in touch with the unconscious mind and could be especially insightful.

If all of this sounds like you, you might just be a highly sensitive person, equipped with a temperament that requires special skills and knowledge to deal with. As I’m learning more about how this trait works in my own life, I’m grateful that Aron does not pathologize it, but treats it as something that simply is. Even for people who are not HSPs, information on the topic can surely be useful to parents, teachers, partners, and co-workers who have an HSP among them.

Bishop Oyedepo Charges Religious Leaders On 2015 Polls

Less than seven months before the 2015 general elections in Nigeria, the founder of Living Faith Church, otherwise known as Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has finally spoken on the polls that many believe would make or mar the country.

Oyedepo, while speaking with a delegation of the Lagos chapter of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, led by its chairman, Bishop Sola Ore, who paid him a courtesy call at his Ota, Ogun State office on Tuesday, 19 August, 2014, called on church leaders to ensure massive mobilisation of Christians across the country for the 2015 elections.

Bishop Oyedepo

According to the clergymen, who will clock 60 on 27 September, such mobilisation will ensure that credible people are elected in public offices.

Oyedepo also pointed it out that voter registration was an important starting point if Nigerians would install credible leaders.

“The PFN constituency is a very large constituency and the mobilisation of this large number of worshippers calls for wisdom. There is need for wisdom to harness the large population of the church. The starting point is to ensure that our members register to vote. The church is a strong body in Lagos and across the country. Lagos, for instance, has many mega churches. We need to harness our human resources to create a platform for the church to have a voice,” Oyedepo said.
He added that: “There are groups that are building imaginary names, but we have the population and we can build real names. The Lagos city must have a feel of our impact.

“We are not going to vote for nonsense this time around. There is no political party in this world that will see the population of the church and ignore it.”

The revered cleric urged Christians to push for people who have credibility in the next political dispensation, saying: “We believe the Christian culture promotes values that make for good government. I always advocate that a leader must have character, capability and courage to be able to make impact. Christians should look for such trait before voting anybody into power.”

While acknowledging that there are powers that contend with political office holders, Oyedepo said: “We need prayers and Christians must be ready to pray while not ignoring the ability and the power of choice they have.”

He regretted that Nigeria is going through hard times noting: “We are in trouble because there are too many people in positions of authority who don’t have capacity to confront the issues facing us as a country.”

The church leader observed that many good and competent people fail to put themselves forward for elections because of fear that the political terrain is both rough and diabolical.

He however said: “I think we have passed that stage. Now, democracy has come to stay in Nigeria. It’s time for the good people to come out and participate in the political process.”

While responding to Oyedepo’s speech, Bishop Ore said: “We appreciate your leadership role in the Body of Christ and we crave your indulgence to continue to strengthen our hands with your prayers and support for this new administration.”

It would be recalled that Oyedepo was recently reportedly barred from entering the United Kingdom.

According to a source at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Oyedepo, who reportedly holds a ‘C’ Visa that grants him access to the UK for duration of ten years was stopped from travelling on Saturday, 9 August, 2014, following a directive from “Airline Alert”.

The source said the alert which warned that any airline that disobeys the ban is liable to a fine of £2000, also revealed that the reason for it was yet to be ascertained.

But it was said it might be connected to an inquiry by the UK Charitable Commission which accused the UK branch of the Winners Chapel of exploiting supporters as reported by Daily Mail and Guardian.

Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had some months ago announced that the 2015 general elections would hold in first quart

Police said both actors tested positive for marijuana and admitted using the drug, and that 100 grams (3.53 ounces) of it were taken from Jaycee’s home.

The younger Chan is accused of accommodating drug users, an offense that carries a maximum sentence of three years’ imprisonment – a far more serious charge than that of drug consumption.

It would be recalled that China named the Jackie Chan as an anti-drug ambassador in 2009.

Jackie Chan was born Chan Kong-sang on 7 April, 1954.

He has worked as a Hong Kong actor, action choreographer, comedian, director, producer, martial artist, screenwriter, entrepreneur, singer, and stunt performer.

After making his debut in the English Premier League, EPL, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has advised former Chelsea number one goalie, Petr Cech to remain at the club.
